Cubicle Light Indicators:
Design Brief:
Working with the Primark team to enhance the customer experience for the customers and ease of operations for the store colleagues. Create a solution to show which cubicles are free, as well as alerting which cubicles are occupied.
Design Considerations:
To ensure a sense of security and privacy for the Primark customer was paramount when changing in the cubicle. The process needed to be seamless and visual to alert occupancy.
Customer and operational research was undertaken to fully understand how the Primark customers utlised the fitting room area and how this then impacted on operations.

Design Solution:
A ceiling and cubicle mounted product was developed with a sensor in the rear to detect movement. Any movement detected by the sensor would then turn the illuminated blade from green to red to alert customers not to enter. A delay was added to allow customers to exit the cubicles, use the large walkway mirrors or show friends and family their new outfits and then return to the cubicle with the light still being red, making sure their clothing and valuables are kept safe. As well as a manual ‘red’ override switch to allow sections of the changing rooms to be closed off for cleaning or refurbishment, which allowed less staff to be present around the changing areas.
